ONE YEAR ON….THE GAME PLAN

It is one year from when I put up my first post, so officially it is my first anniversary today. But I don’t really feel that it is genuinely my first anniversary because the blog as it is now really began at the beginning of this year, not last.

When I started “Life a w.i.p.” it was with a view to sharing all the crafty bits and pieces I love to do and things that truly inspire me. However, this might have given rise to the idea I had a butterfly mind and incapable of sticking at any thing. Now whilst it may seem that’s the case it isn’t so. It is true I have a lot of things I love to do, but then these  are things I have done for a long time, still do and will continue to do as long as I am able, but I want to keep this blog about my journey to a me-made wardrobe.

However, it isn’t just about the clothes themselves, although they do interest me. I am interested in learning. Learning to hone skills that I have used in the past to be the best I can be. To create a quality in the finished article that I can be satisfied with.

At the moment I am mostly using fabrics from the stash and trying out techniques I didn’t used to be confident with. I’m still not confident with some of the things I try and know I need to practice. Remember the old adage “there are three things that lead to success – practice, practice, practice”? So I will probably make the same thing over and over again – or not if I achieve a relatively satisfactory result sooner. Then I will concentrate on using the best quality fabrics I can get hold of.  I am sure I shall acquire a quantity of things, but it is pure quality I am aiming for. It was this that led me to couture techniques and hand-sewing, both very satisfying and I was happy with what I could achieve and it gave me a measure of control that I felt I didn’t have with a machine, I certainly made far fewer mistakes. This is very different and  a whole new ball game for me and one that I am enjoying immensely. Will I get there? I won’t know until this time next year perhaps, deo volente I am still here.

Thanks for reading this far…….and no pictures to speak of, only at the header,  sorry!
